Insulting mats are non-conductors in nature which is required for every electrical based factory and for workers who work with electrical appliances every day. Insulating mats can be seen in places such as power plants, power transmissions rooms and high voltage panels etc.
Types of Insulating mats
There are various types of insulating mats to choose from. However, there are 6 primary specialised mats which Duratuf products market both local and to its global customers as well.
Insulating Matting (ASTM-D-178)
These insulating mats are highly electrical resistant and protect from mortal shocks generated from high voltage equipment. Its standard thickness is from 3.2mm to 12.7mm depending on its use. These insulating mats are leakage, moisture and waterproof.
Electrical Insulating mat (IS 15652:2006)
These insulating mats are manufactured as per the Indian standard (i.e.) 15652:2006 and are usually used for covering the floor below the control panels. These mats are made using elastomer which is anti-skid and is available in 2mm, 2.5mm and 3.0mm.
Rubber Mats (IS5424:1969)
The rubber mat is made out of natural rubber which gives the mat good electrical resistance and mechanical properties. The size of these mats is available from 6mm to 2mm thickness. It also comes with the checkered or fluted design.
Insulation mats (IEC 61111:2009)
These are insulating mats which are manufactured according to the IEC 61111:2009 standard and are highly electrical resistant. The thickness of these insulating mats is 2mm to 4mm. Thicker mats are also available for this brand. These mats have along functional life and are fire and acid resistant.
Insulation matting (AS/NS 2978:1995)
Two classes of mats are available. Class-A is for general purpose application which is thicker than Class-B. The latter one is a lightweight which can be used for flat indoor surface.
Application area of the mats:
- Electrical Substations
- Transformers, Lift rooms and generators
- Around Buss bars
- Live equipment indoor and outdoor usage
- Near HT/LT control panels
